Disc types
Disc golf discs are grouped into four types: putters, midranges, fairway drivers, and distance drivers. The difference comes down to the rim. Putters have a deep, blunt rim that holds in your hand a beat longer and lands soft. Distance drivers have a thin, sharp rim built to cut through the air. Midranges and fairway drivers sit in between, and most rounds are decided somewhere in that middle ground.
If you are new to this, start with a putter and a midrange. They fly straighter at slower arm speeds and they will teach you more about your throw than a fast driver will. Speed numbers are not a difficulty ranking, but a high speed disc does need a clean, fast throw to do what it was built to do.
Everything here has spent time in someone's bag. We stock what we throw, so the selection shifts as we find new favorites and run out of old ones.
